Minutes of Meeting April
19th, 2008,

The April meeting of the South Central Chapter, Missouri Pilots Association was called to order at 9:30 AM by President Mike Vaughn at the Vaughn hangar in Mountain View following a pancake breakfast provided by Floyd Deidiker, CPA, and Wolford Monument. Twenty three members and three guests stayed for the meeting. Four had to leave earlier.
Bob Brantley led the group in prayer after Ray Fine led the group in the pledge of allegiance to the flag.
Clint Allen made a motion to approve the March minutes as published in the state MPA newsletter. Howard Wolford gave the treasurer’s report. Approved by motion from Ray Fine, second by Bob Brantley.
Membership: The chapter welcomed new member, Don Jennings.
Wings: There were 14 wings completion for the past year. Clint Allen had 4 2/3 completions, the most completions by a CFI. Clint Allen is also the validator in our chapter. The FAA recommends one item per month on the FAAST web site of safety participation. May 3 is a safety seminar at Walnut Ridge. Bob Obert talked about safety meeting at Sun N Fun, which gave the idea to try different maneuvers in the flying portion of Wings. There will be another safety seminar at Branson on May 16 at College of the Ozarks in conjunction with the Missouri and United States Pilots Meeting. Pre-registration is recommended.
The chapter voted to have a weather seminar at a future meeting.
The next meeting will be May 15, a potluck at the EAA hangar in Willow Springs.
Under old business, the by-laws changes to mirror the states’ by-laws was postponed until the by-law changes have been sent to each member. One change would be dual membership to include any two members having the same address. Other changes were outlined by Ray Fine.
There was no April newsletter due to time constraints. Articles need to be to Floyd by May 3 to be able to get a newsletter out in May.
The Nominating committee report included a list of candidates for officers. President, Mike Vaughn; Vice-President, Jerry Pfister; Secretary, Sue L’Hommedieu; Treasurer, Howard Wolford; Membership, Ray Fine; Member at Large, Ray Fine; Newsletter, Floyd Deidiker.
Gainesville voted down the bond issue which would have placed a school structure in the path of the Gainesville runway. The issue is supposed to go on the ballot again in August. Sue is considering accepting the position of airport manager. The chapter will send representatives when needed to support the airport there.
New Business: Ray Fine asked about ordering caps with our new logo. Motion by Sharon Vaughn, second by Howard Wolford to order hats.
Mike Vaughn read information to members about the new Branson airport, which is soliciting airline business. This airport is the first airport in the United States to be privately funded. There will be a control tower there. Mike encouraged everyone to look at the plans.
